Legal Action Ensues Over Unpaid COVID-19 Catering Bills

In a legal saga stemming from unpaid dues to a catering service supplying food to COVID-19 care centers in Kancheepuram, the Principal District and Sessions Court has ordered the attachment of Kancheepuram Collectorate properties. The court’s decision follows a civil suit filed by Andra Master Catering Services, claiming ₹22 lakh in outstanding payments with interest.

Despite a court decree issued in September 2023 directing payment, authorities failed to comply, prompting the execution petition. The dispute escalated due to discrepancies in the claimed amount, leading to the attachment of the District Collector’s chair, table, and car. This case highlights the complexities of financial obligations amidst pandemic response efforts and underscores the legal recourse available for unpaid services.
