Landslide Hits Yunnan Province, China: Two Killed, Dozens Missing
A landslide struck Liangshui village in Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, southwest China, resulting in at least two deaths and over 40 people missing. The incident occurred at 5:51 am local time, triggering an emergency response from the Provincial Commission for disaster reduction. Over 500 residents were evacuated from the affected areas.
The search and rescue operation involved more than 200 personnel, 33 firefighting vehicles, and 10 loading machines. Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered an all-out effort to rescue the missing individuals, emphasizing the need to minimize casualties.
