KPCC President Accuses Kerala Government of Political Targeting
In a strong condemnation, KPCC President K. Sudhakaran criticized the Kerala government for allegedly utilizing the police to suppress people’s representatives voicing genuine concerns. Highlighting the arrests of Mathew Kuzhalnadan, MLA, and Ernakulam district Congress Committee president Mohammed Shiyas, Sudhakaran asserted that the court’s decision to grant them bail signifies solidarity with their raised issues.
The arrests occurred amid Kuzhalnadan’s hunger strike for a permanent solution to human-wildlife conflicts, indicating, according to Sudhakaran, a government attempt to stifle opposition protests. He emphasized the government’s failure to address the repercussions of wild animal attacks and delayed salary disbursement, suggesting a disconnect between the government and affected citizens.
