Kilambakkam Bus Terminus Faces Delays and Concerns Over Connectivity

The construction of the Kilambakkam satellite bus terminus along GST Road, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion around Chennai’s Koyambedu area, is facing delays and raising concerns among residents. While designed to provide relief to the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus in Koyambedu, the Kilambakkam Terminus’s completion has been hindered by pending tasks.

Residents express worries over the absence of a railway station in the vicinity, potentially inconveniencing passengers reliant on MTC buses or pricier autorickshaws to access it. Southern Railway cites the complex procedure for establishing a railway station as a time-consuming factor. Initially planned for a 2021 completion, the Kilambakkam terminus project, initiated in 2019, suffered delays due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
