Kerala Rains Claim Lives and Disrupt Daily Life

Heavy rains in Kerala on July 16 led to tragic outcomes as rain-related accidents claimed at least three lives across the state. In Palakkad district, Sulochana, 54, and her son Ranjith were killed when their house collapsed while they slept. In Kannur, Kunhamina, 51, drowned after falling into an open well, while in Mattannur, a woman was rescued from her partially collapsed house.

The rains also caused power outages, inundated roads, and triggered minor mudslips and house collapses. Authorities responded by opening relief camps and control rooms in severely affected areas, while dams were opened to manage rising water levels downstream. The IMD has issued alerts for heavy rains in several districts, urging residents to stay vigilant.
