Two men working at a plywood factory in Perumbavoor, Kerala, were detained by the police after a woman accused them of sexually abusing her three-and-a-half-year-old daughter. The incident occurred when the girl was playing near the plywood factory where her father worked. She was called by the two men and allegedly sexually abused.
The mother, concerned about her daughter’s well-being, sought medical attention for her and reported the incident to the local police when doctors found signs of injury in the girl’s private parts. After identifying the two men residing in a labor camp near the plywood factory as the abusers, the police took them into custody.
An FIR has been registered under the POCSO Act, and the police are currently questioning the accused. Perumbavoor has a significant population of migrant laborers, some of whom reside with their families.
