Kerala Muslims celebrated Eid and condemned Central for UCC
Muslims in Kerala celebrated Eid with enthusiasm and devotion, observing the religious traditions and enjoying the festive spirit. The day was marked by prayers, feasts, and exchanges of greetings among family and friends. However, amidst the celebrations, there was widespread criticism and condemnation of the central government’s remarks regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
Many Muslims expressed their opposition to the proposed UCC, stating that it infringes upon their religious rights and cultural practices. They voiced their concerns about the potential erosion of personal laws and the need to protect their distinct identity.
While celebrating Eid, the community also took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of preserving their religious and cultural freedoms in the face of potential changes in the legal framework.
