Kerala High Court Grants Anticipatory Bail to Actor Suresh Gopi in “Improper Touching” Case

The Kerala High Court has granted anticipatory bail to actor Suresh Gopi in a case related to the “improper touching” of a woman journalist. The court noted that while an arrest might not be warranted, if it were to happen, Gopi should be given bail. The actor was questioned by the Kozhikode Police in November 2023 in connection with the case.

The charges include Section 354, which pertains to using criminal force on a woman to outrage her modesty. The incident occurred on October 27, 2023, when Gopi placed his hand on the woman journalist’s shoulder while addressing the media. Despite apologizing, the case has become a point of controversy, with Gopi set to contest the Thrissur Lok Sabha seat on a BJP ticket.
