Kerala’s Health Minister Veena George finds herself embroiled in a controversy after accusations surfaced that her personal staffer, Akhil Mathew, allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a man seeking a job for his daughter-in-law in the Health Department. The complainant, Haridasan, claimed that he had notified the minister’s office about the alleged misconduct but received no response.
He released pictures and messages detailing the communication with the minister’s private secretary. George defended her actions, stating that her office had filed a complaint with the police after learning of the allegation. A middleman, Akhil Sajeev, has also been identified in the alleged job scam. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala raised concerns about the handling of the case, suggesting that the police may face difficulties in pursuing the matter.
