Kerala Government Defers Plans for New Police Stations Amid Focus on Specialized Crime Units
The Kerala government has announced its decision to postpone the opening of new police stations across the state, emphasizing current initiatives to tackle rising cybercrimes and financial offenses through specialized police divisions. Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal, speaking on behalf of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the Assembly, clarified that the consideration for new police stations hinges on factors like population density, crime rates, and existing security provisions.
While the request for a new police station in Pattom remains under review, the government prioritizes enhancing police infrastructure as per future requirements and completing new building allocations for police divisions.
