Kerala Government Considers Bihar’s Rubber Dam Model for Pamba River
The Kerala government is contemplating adopting Bihar’s rubber dam model, used to maintain water levels in the Falgu River near the Vishnupad temple, to ensure adequate water levels in the Pamba River. Kerala’s Pamba River hosts water sports and boat racing annually, but irregular water levels have posed challenges for organizers.
Sanjay Kumar Jha, Bihar’s Water Resource Development Minister, expressed delight at Kerala’s interest in their water management model, stating that Bihar has showcased a new approach to water management. Bihar’s rubber dam on the Falgu River, inaugurated last year, has provided a consistent water supply for pilgrims performing rituals at the historic Vishnupad temple, offering a potential solution for Kerala’s water level issues.
