Kerala CM Urges Centre to Ensure Safety of 7,000 Keralites in Israel Amid Growing Tensions
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has expressed deep concerns over the safety of approximately 7,000 Keralites currently residing in Israel amidst the escalating tensions in the region. In a letter addressed to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Vijayan emphasized the need for the central government’s intervention to safeguard Indian citizens in Israel.
The ongoing hostilities have subjected these civilians to extreme hardships, causing significant anxiety among their family members. Israel is also home to a substantial number of nurses from various parts of Kerala, adding to the concerns of their loved ones back in India. While reports suggest that life in some areas of Israel remains relatively normal, residents have been advised to exercise extreme caution and stay indoors.
They have also been informed about emergency alerts on mobile phones and the sound of sirens in case of emergencies. Nonetheless, the rising tensions continue to evoke anxiety among both the Indian expatriates and their families back home.
