Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has expressed dissatisfaction with the acquittal of a 24-year-old man accused of raping and murdering a six-year-old girl in Vandiperiyar, Idukki. The Chief Minister stated that the court’s observations will be taken seriously, and steps are being taken to file an appeal against the verdict.
The court, in its decision, highlighted the failure of the police to produce sufficient evidence to incriminate the accused, Arjun, stating that the prosecution had not proven the case. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Vijayan called for a united front against the Centre’s financial measures targeting Kerala, urging the Opposition to join the state government in opposing what he termed unconstitutional acts by the Union government.
