Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a significant increase in milk procurement by the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), up 15% from last year, due to a good monsoon and higher procurement prices for dairy farmers. The average daily procurement rose from 90 lakh litres to 99 lakh litres.
To support farmers, KMF introduced an additional 50 ml of milk per Nandini packet at an extra cost of ₹2, without increasing the base milk price. The KMF also converts 30 lakh litres of milk into skimmed milk powder daily to match demand. Reduced distress sales of cattle, attributed to better returns and stable input costs, further boosted milk production.
