Karnataka district felt a 2.4 magnitude earthquake
On Tuesday, an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.4 struck the Basavana Bagewadi taluk region of Vijayapura district in Karnataka, causing panic among the residents already affected by heavy rains and floods. The earthquake occurred at 9.55 a.m., with its epicenter located 2.9 kilometers southeast of Managuli in Basavana Bagewadi taluk.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Committee (KSNDMC) reported that the earthquake’s intensity was very low, and it was felt within a radial distance of 15 to 20 kilometers from the epicenter, according to the Seismic Intensity Map. The impact of the earthquake was further compounded by the ongoing heavy and incessant rain and flooding in the area.
