Karnataka Chief Minister Questions Energy Department Over Farmer Power Shortage

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed concern about power shortages impacting farmers in the state. During a review of the progress of the Energy Department, Siddaramaiah questioned officials about their lack of preparations for emergency situations. He highlighted districts where farmers’ protests were occurring and urged officials to supply available power in different batches, which could have alleviated the situation.

Siddaramaiah also emphasized the need to address power theft and leakage issues, and he instructed the Energy Department to track detected power thefts and ensure officers were working proactively to resolve these concerns. He stressed the importance of convincing farmers about the current power crisis situation, considering the rainfall deficit and drought facing the state.
