Karnataka BJP Delegation Meets Speaker, Demands Revocation of Suspension for 18 MLAs
Leaders from the Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met the Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and requested him to cancel the suspension of 18 BJP MLAs. The meeting took place after the Assembly suspended the lawmakers for disrupting the House proceedings.
The BJP delegation visited the Speaker’s office and submitted a formal letter. In the letter, they asked the Speaker to withdraw the suspension and allow the MLAs to return to the Assembly. The party said that the suspension was unfair and went against democratic values.
The Assembly suspended the 18 BJP MLAs for creating a disturbance during the recent Budget Session. The Speaker took action after the MLAs shouted slogans, entered the well of the House, and refused to follow Assembly rules. The Speaker used his authority to suspend them for the rest of the session.
However, the BJP leaders claimed that the government used the suspension to avoid questions and hide important issues. They said the ruling party did not allow healthy debate and used the Speaker’s powers to silence the opposition. The BJP delegation urged the Speaker to protect democratic rights and maintain balance in the House.
The suspended MLAs also joined the protest outside the Assembly. They held placards and raised slogans, asking for justice. The BJP state president supported the MLAs and blamed the Congress-led government for trying to escape from accountability.
The issue has sparked political debate in Karnataka. While the ruling party defended the Speaker’s decision, the opposition accused the government of misusing power. Several legal experts said the Speaker must follow rules and maintain order, but he should also respect the opposition’s role in a democracy.
The BJP now hopes the Speaker will take back the suspension and allow all MLAs to participate in the ongoing session. The party leaders said they will continue to raise their voice for people’s issues and fight for justice inside and outside the Assembly.
