Karnataka Announces Multiple Exam Opportunities for SSLC and PUC Students
In a significant announcement on Teachers’ Day, Karnataka’s Minister for Education, Madhu Bangarappa, revealed that starting from the 2023-24 academic year, SSLC (Class 10) and PUC (Class 11 & 12) students will have three opportunities to take board examinations, and even students who fail will progress to the next class.
The move aims to encourage meaningful learning, promote academic progress, and enhance knowledge retention. The Department of Education has released the exam timetables, and students can advance to the next class even if they fail in a few subjects, considering the minimum required aggregate marks. Additionally, the government plans to distribute eggs twice a day to students, benefiting approximately 58 lakh children, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 280 crore.
This scheme will also extend to Class 10 students. Minister Madhu Bangarappa acknowledged the shortage of teaching staff and the appointment of 10,000 guest lecturers to address this issue.
