The Karnataka Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a letter movement campaign, urging the immediate implementation of the Mekedatu project in the state. This campaign involved personal meetings with various sections of Bengaluru’s residents, including workers, auto drivers, office staff, and BBMP staff. The AAP has been actively involved in conducting a letter movement and raising public awareness about the Mekedatu dam project since October 7.
They’re demanding that the Union government grants permission for the Mekedatu scheme to provide a permanent drinking water solution for Bengaluru. The party also calls for the conservation of Bengaluru’s water bodies and the need for the state government to address water release issues during drought situations.
AAP leaders like State Vice-President Mohan Dasari have stressed the importance of making necessary decisions and resolutions regarding water supply in drought-prone times.
