The arrest of Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Sheikh Aadil Mushtaq may involve more than corruption and extortion, according to top sources. Allegations have surfaced that DySP Aadil tampered with evidence to protect a terror operative during his investigation, based on disclosures made by a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative, Muzamil Zahoor, corroborated by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (ICERT).
A special investigation team (SIT) led by SP south Srinagar has been tasked with probing Aadil’s involvement in these allegations. It was reported that during a raid at his residence, Aadil attempted to evade arrest by jumping from a window and formatting his cell phones to eliminate evidence.
Additionally, he is accused of advising Muzamil to file a false complaint against police officers to protect him. The ICERT traced communications between Aadil and Muzamil on Telegram, revealing their active collaboration. Investigations are ongoing into Aadil’s actions, which extend beyond financial misconduct.
