The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Ashok Kumar, a Revenue Inspector posted at Jammu Cantonment Board, on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh. According to the CBI, the agency initiated the arrest after registering a case based on a complaint alleging that Kumar had demanded a bribe of Rs two lakh from the complainant to prevent eviction from a residential quarter within Jammu Cantonment and to make an allotment entry in the name of the complainant’s mother.
The CBI laid a trap, leading to the arrest of the accused while accepting Rs one lakh from the complainant. Subsequent searches at Kumar’s premises yielded cash amounting to Rs 6.5 lakh and property documents. Kumar is set to be presented before a Court of Special Judges, CBI Cases in Jammu.
