The recent surge in militant attacks in Jammu and Kashmir has sparked criticism from various political parties in the region aimed at the BJP-led Union government. National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah called for resuming dialogue with Pakistan to quell the violence, emphasizing the need for bilateral understanding. In contrast, J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina vehemently rejected Abdullah’s stance, accusing Pakistan of orchestrating terrorist activities and advocating for a tough stance rather than dialogue. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders Mehbooba Mufti and Aditya Gupta also condemned the attacks, highlighting security lapses and demanding proactive measures from the administration.
Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader M.Y. Tarigami criticized the administration for claiming normalcy amidst escalating violence, urging for a comprehensive reassessment. Meanwhile, J&K Pradesh Congress president Vikar Rasool Wani challenged the BJP’s claims of restoring normalcy post-Article 370 abrogation, demanding accountability from the central leadership regarding security breaches in the region. J&K Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha reassured the public of the administration’s commitment to eradicate terrorism, underscoring the need for collective efforts and vigilance to achieve lasting peace in the region.
