Jaipur Police Implements New Guidelines for Protests and Rallies
In a bid to ease traffic congestion caused by protests and rallies in the city, the Jaipur Police Commissionerate, on the direction of the High Court, issued new guidelines on Monday. According to the guidelines, protests, and rallies will now be limited to four hours a day in Jaipur City.
No demonstrations will be permitted from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dharnas, demonstrations, and rallies can only be conducted between 12 noon and 4 p.m., during which main roads and intersections must not be blocked.
The move comes after a BJP rally led to a traffic jam on August 1, prompting the High Court to request comprehensive guidelines for such events. The police, in response, divided the city into four parts and designated specific protest locations based on crowd size. The guidelines aim to streamline protests and minimize their impact on public life.
