The Israeli government has approved the appointment of Reuven Azar as the new Ambassador to India, with additional responsibilities as the non-resident Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Bhutan. Currently serving as the Ambassador of Israel to Romania, Mr. Azar’s extensive diplomatic experience includes roles such as Head of the Israel-U.S.-China internal task force, Deputy National Security Advisor for Foreign Policy, and Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of Israel in Washington, DC.
His background spans research on Middle East economic and political issues, as well as diplomatic postings in Cairo and Amman. Born in Argentina, Mr. Azar immigrated to Israel at the age of 13 and has a graduate and post-graduate degree in International Relations from the Hebrew University. His appointment is part of the Israeli government’s approval of 21 new Heads of Missions to assume service soon.
