Israel Blames Iran for Houthi Threat in UN Address

Ambassador Gilad Erdan, Israel’s representative to the United Nations, accused the Islamic Republic of Iran of orchestrating the threat posed by the Houthi rebels in the Middle East during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council. The meeting, convened by the United States in response to Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea, saw Erdan asserting that Iran, led by the Ayatollah, is the common thread connecting destructive elements in the region.

He highlighted the global implications, noting the potential cost of over $6 billion per day to the world economy if the Bab al-Mandeb Strait were completely closed. Erdan urged the Security Council to enforce sanctions against the Houthis and their backers, emphasizing that it was time to address the Iranian role in destabilizing the region.
