Iran has significantly expanded its nuclear capacities by initiating new cascades of advanced centrifuges at its Natanz facility and planning further installations at its Fordo site. This move follows a recent IAEA Board of Governors’ vote that censured Iran for non-cooperation, prompting Tehran’s response.
The advanced IR-4 and IR-6 centrifuges accelerate uranium enrichment, raising concerns over Iran’s potential to achieve weapons-grade levels. The U.S. condemned these actions as “nuclear escalations,” highlighting their lack of a credible peaceful purpose. Despite facing severe economic sanctions, Iran continues to enhance its nuclear program, complicating international diplomatic efforts amid ongoing regional tensions.
