Iran has strongly condemned Canada’s decision to designate its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, calling it an unjustified and politically motivated move.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Nasser Kanaani, dismissed the action as ineffective against the IRGC’s established role in national defense and emphasized Iran’s right to respond accordingly to Canada’s decision. This move by Canada follows similar actions by the United States in 2019, which Iran also vehemently opposes, maintaining that the IRGC is a legitimate entity responsible for safeguarding Iran’s security interests.
