India’s Special Relationship with Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province
During his visit to Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province, Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha emphasized India’s special relationship with the region. Highlighting India-assisted projects, Jha underscored the significance of the Eastern Province in connectivity initiatives between India and Sri Lanka. He reviewed various development projects, including connectivity and energy initiatives, aimed at bringing significant benefits to the province.
Jha also inspected the progress of several projects, such as the construction of a Surgical Unit in Teaching Hospital Batticaloa and Model Village Housing Projects in Batticaloa and Trincomalee. Additionally, he encouraged stakeholders to expedite the completion of a temperature-controlled warehouse in Dambulla to help reduce post-harvest losses for farmers. Jha’s visit also included an inspection of the proposed solar facility in Sampur and various facilities of the Lanka Indian Oil Corporation (LIOC) in Trincomalee.
