India’s Priorities Aligned with Global Community’s Objectives on Afghanistan
According to India’s Permanent Representative to the U.N., Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, India’s objectives in Afghanistan closely align with the priorities of the international community. Ambassador Kamboj emphasized the collective focus on combating terrorism, promoting inclusive governance, protecting the rights of women, children, and minorities, countering narcotics, and prioritizing humanitarian assistance. India actively participated in the recent meeting of special envoys on Afghanistan in Qatar, where constructive discussions took place on recommendations for addressing the Afghan situation.
The meeting saw the involvement of key stakeholders, including the U.N. Secretary-General and representatives from various countries and organizations. Ambassador Kamboj stressed the importance of a consultative and transparent approach in moving forward on key issues, including the establishment of an international contact group for Afghanistan. She highlighted India’s belief that such a group should include all relevant stakeholders to enhance its effectiveness and legitimacy in promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan.
