Indian Government Investigation Reveals ‘Rogue Operatives’ in Pannun Plot

An Indian government investigation into the alleged plot to kill Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in New York City has reportedly identified “rogue operatives” not authorized by the government. According to a Bloomberg report, at least one individual involved in the plot, who was identified as no longer working with RAW (Research and Analysis Wing), is still employed by the government.

However, no criminal action has been initiated against this individual. The investigation comes in the wake of federal prosecutors in the U.S. accusing an Indian citizen, Nikhil Gupta, of plotting to kill Pannun at the behest of an Indian government official. Despite the seriousness of the issue, Donald Lu, the U.S. State Department’s top diplomat for South and Central Asia, urged India to work quickly and transparently as the investigation proceeds, emphasizing the need to hold those responsible for the alleged crime accountable.
