India Seeks Good Relations with Pakistan, but Terrorism Remains a Barrier
In the Lok Sabha on December 13, 2024, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized that India desires peaceful and positive relations with Pakistan, but these ties must be free of terrorism. He stated that India is waiting for Pakistan to demonstrate a change in its past behavior, especially in dealing with cross-border terrorism, and warned that failure to do so would impact bilateral relations.
Jaishankar also highlighted the disruption of trade relations, which were severed following Pakistan’s actions in 2019, including the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. He made it clear that the onus is on Pakistan to change its approach.
