India Dismisses Allegations by Canadian PM Over Pro-Khalistan Figure’s Murder
Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has refuted allegations by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau concerning India’s involvement in the murder case of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canada-based pro-Khalistan hardliner.
Speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, Jaishankar stated that such allegations do not reflect the Indian government’s policy and that New Delhi had already conveyed its readiness to examine specific and relevant information from Canada. Trudeau’s accusations led to a diplomatic dispute between the two countries, with India rejecting Canada’s claims as “absurd and motivated,” resulting in the expulsion of senior diplomats and travel advisories.
