India ‘Deeply Concerned’ Over UNRWA Employees’ Alleged Terror Links
India has expressed deep concern over Israel’s allegations that dozens of UN Relief and Works Welfare Agency (UNRWA) employees were involved or linked to terror groups in the October 7 attacks on Israel. While welcoming the UN’s investigation into the allegations, India did not indicate whether it would follow the U.S. and other Western countries in pausing funding to the agency.
Israel’s accusations have led to a funding pause by several countries, including the U.S., Canada, Australia, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and others. India, a regular donor with an annual pledge of $5 million, has not clarified its stance on funding UNRWA amid these allegations. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized India’s policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism but did not comment on reconsidering funding.
