Incomplete Stormwater Drain in Madipakkam Poses Hazards and Turns Dumping Site

An incomplete stormwater drain in Ram Nagar (South), Madipakkam, within Greater Chennai Corporation’s Zone 13 has become a threat to motorists and a site for open dumping, according to residents. The proposed drain, part of a larger project linking drains to the Kosasthalaiyar Basin, has a length of 250 meters, with 40 meters yet to be constructed.

Residents complained about the open drain becoming a breeding ground for mosquitoes due to plastic waste and debris. The local authorities have assured that the pending construction work will resume from January 29. Meanwhile, Greater Chennai Corporation officials emphasize the need to identify and clear unauthorized dumping spots promptly.
