In Tamil Nadu Dengue Cases on the Rise

Tamil Nadu has reported a total of 4,048 cases of dengue in the past eight-and-a-half months this year, with cases showing a marginal increase. The Health Department is intensifying its efforts in fever surveillance, prevention, and control measures, emphasizing prompt diagnosis and treatment. While January had the highest number of cases at 866, there was a steady fall in monthly figures until August, when cases began rising again, reaching 535 cases that month.

In September, 204 cases have been reported so far. Certain districts, especially those in the Western Ghats region, are identified as hotspots for dengue. Health authorities are focusing on early detection, capacity building for healthcare workers, and educating the public about the warning signs of severe dengue.
