Imran Khan’s Corruption Case Hearing Adjourned Due to Security Concerns

The accountability court in Pakistan adjourned the hearing of the £190 million corruption case against Imran Khan until May 17, citing security concerns at the Adiala prison. The request for adjournment came from the superintendent of Adiala Jail, citing threat alerts received by the Punjab Home Department regarding prisons in the province.

The court accepted the request, acknowledging the sensitivity of Adiala Jail, which houses over 7,000 prisoners, including high-profile political figures. Security measures were increased in and around the prison, and a ban on meetings with prisoners was imposed for three days. Imran Khan faces charges related to the settlement of £190 million, which the U.K.’s National Crime Agency sent to Pakistan.
