Residents, particularly senior citizens and schoolchildren, face increased risks while crossing busy roads like Grand Trunk Road, Thirumangalam Junction, and Padi Roundabout.

The dismantled footbridges are promised to be reconstructed, but the lack of clear timelines and the ongoing construction delays exacerbate pedestrian hazards. The Chennai Corporation and the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority aim to enhance non-motorized transport facilities by reclaiming footpaths from encroachments and ensuring dedicated pedestrian pathways.
