IMD Predicts Increased Rainfall in East India, Isolated Heavy Rain in Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast an uptick in rainfall activity over East and East Central India starting from Saturday. In Northeast India, light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is expected until September 3, with isolated heavy rainfall in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

East India will see light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning over the next five days, with isolated heavy rainfall in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal on September 3, and Odisha from Saturday to September 5. Central India should prepare for light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning from September 3-5, with isolated heavy rainfall in Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh.

South India will experience scattered rainfall with isolated heavy rain in specific regions like Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and South Interior Karnataka on Friday and Saturday, while North Interior Karnataka, Kerala, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana may see similar patterns from September 3-5. The rest of the country is expected to have subdued rainfall activity.
