IDBI Bank’s Baffling Mishap: A Call for CBI Probe

In a perplexing turn of events, IDBI Bank sought a CBI investigation after an Income Tax search in Mangaluru led to the discovery of ₹5 crore mistakenly delivered to the wrong premises. The currency-laden vehicle, intended for a regular customer of the bank, arrived at the premises of an unconnected businessman, sparking an intense investigation.

Despite the customer’s incomplete loan application process, the bank’s involvement in the transaction remained opaque, leaving authorities puzzled. Accusations of fraud surfaced when the customer alleged that bank officials failed to return pledged gold and withdrew ₹61 lakh without consent. With two bank employees implicated and on the run, the case has been transferred to the Cybercrime, Economic Offences, and Narcotics police station, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
