Hyundai Motor Group to Implement Level 2+ Self-Driving Tech by 2027
Hyundai Motor Group has unveiled a roadmap to introduce advanced autonomous driving technology, targeting the deployment of Level 2+ features across its vehicle lineup by 2027.
This ambitious plan, revealed at the Pleos 25 developer conference in Seoul, includes the integration of AI deep learning, high-performance neural processing units (NPUs), and lightweight model architectures.
Hyundai’s Level 2+ system will be based on camera and radar perception, continuously improving through learning. As part of its broader strategy, the company is transforming into a software-centric mobility technology company, with the Pleos platform enabling flexible software updates and the addition of new features.
The group is also decoupling hardware and software to improve the integration of autonomous technologies across vehicle models. Hyundai is further investing $21 billion in the United States through 2028, including $8 billion for a new automotive plant in Georgia. This investment aims to bolster domestic manufacturing and strengthen the group’s position in the global market.
