Hydrogeological Report for Parandur Airport Submitted to State Government
After nearly 10 months of anticipation, the eagerly awaited hydrogeological report addressing concerns surrounding the proposed second airport at Parandur has been completed and submitted to the State government. Presented by the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), the comprehensive report offers insights into potential challenges and proposes solutions to mitigate environmental impacts.
With the Parandur airport project envisioned as a massive undertaking with significant infrastructure development, including terminals and runways, the report addresses concerns raised by local farmers, residents, and environmental activists. Recommendations include measures for rainwater harvesting, preservation of water bodies like Nelvoy Eri, and maintaining natural drainage through culverts and mitigation structures.
While awaiting clearance from the Centre, the State government has commenced land acquisition proceedings, signaling progress toward the project’s realization.
