Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza Amid Israel-Hamas Conflict

Amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, the Gaza Strip is facing a dire humanitarian crisis, with its hospitals on the brink of collapse. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warns that hospitals are operating at 150% of their capacity, and 60% of primary healthcare facilities have shut down.

Shortages of power, medicine, equipment, and specialized personnel are crippling the healthcare system. Water scarcity is a pressing issue, with desalination and wastewater treatment plants shutting down due to a lack of fuel. Sanitation is deteriorating, as sewage is being dumped into the sea, and trash is piling up.

Food security is unstable, with three out of five World Food Programme bakeries closed due to fuel shortages. As the conflict continues, the toll in the Gaza Strip rises, with a significant number of casualties being children and women.
