Home Guard in Hyderabad Dies After Self-Immolation Protest Over Unpaid Salary and Harassment

M. Ravinder, a 36-year-old home guard, has tragically passed away in Hyderabad after attempting self-immolation as a protest over delayed salary payments and alleged harassment by his seniors. On Tuesday, Ravinder poured petrol on himself and set himself on fire at the Commandant Home Guard’s office near the Goshamahal police stadium.

Bystanders managed to extinguish the flames, and he was rushed to Osmania General Hospital with severe burns, later being transferred to DRDO Apollo Hospital. Ravinder’s family has called for action against the sub-inspector and constable allegedly responsible for his harassment, claiming they even deleted data from his phone.

Union Minister for Tourism and State BJP president G. Kishan Reddy has demanded an inquiry into the incident and criticized the government for failing to fulfill promises to home guards.
