Three Hindu temples in California’s Bay Area, namely Vijay’s Sherawali Temple in Hayward, Shree Swaminarayan Mandir in Newark, and Shiv Durga temple, have been targeted by unknown miscreants in a series of attacks. The Vijay’s Sherawali Temple was vandalized with anti-India and pro-Khalistan graffiti, raising concerns within the Hindu community.
The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) is in contact with temple leaders, local law enforcement, and the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division to address the issue. The incidents come amid a rise in threats from pro-Khalistan elements, prompting HAF to encourage temples to download its safety guide, emphasizing the need for security measures.
The attacks on Hindu temples follow a recent US indictment against an Indian national involved in a foiled plot against Khalistan leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
