Fourteen Hindu activists, summoned in connection with the alleged vandalism of tombs at Baba Budangiri or Datta Peetha in Karnataka’s Chikkamagaluru district, appeared before the local court on Monday. The incident, which occurred on December 3, 2017, involved the destruction of tombs during a dispute on Datta Jayanti.
The Hindu activists are planning a protest against the Congress government’s perceived anti-Hindu stance in the state. The accused face charges of attempting to demolish tombs at Datta Peetha and obstructing police officials from performing their duties. The development has sparked controversy in the state, with some alleging that cases are being reopened to target Hindu activists.
However, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah clarified that the proceedings were a part of legal processes and not connected to the Congress government.
