Hindu Activist Arrested for Threatening Kannada Authors and Thinkers
Shivaji Rao Jadhav, a Hindu activist from Karnataka’s Davanagere district, has been apprehended by the City Central Crime Branch (CCB) for sending threat letters to over 15 progressive Kannada authors and thinkers. These letters, written over the past two years, prompted the targeted individuals to seek action and meet with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
In the letters, Jadhav, who confessed to his actions, threatened the victims for their perceived opposition to Hindutva, warning them to consider their last days. Forensic analysis revealed that all letters originated from the same person but were posted from various districts and taluks. The police have taken Jadhav into custody for further investigation, particularly in light of previous incidents, such as the murders of journalist Gauri Lankesh and activist-writer Prof. M.M. Kalburgi in Karnataka.
