Highest single day death due to dengue hits Bangladesh this year
Bangladesh has reported the highest single-day dengue deaths, with 13 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total fatalities from the disease since January to 127, according to health authorities, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
During the same period, the country also registered 1,533 new confirmed dengue cases, bringing this month’s total tally to 16,022. So far this year, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has documented a total of 24,000 dengue cases and 18,304 recoveries. In 2022, Bangladesh reported 281 dengue deaths, the highest on record, following 179 fatalities recorded in 2019. Last year, the country reported 2,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries.
