High Court Directs Government to Prioritize Water Conservation Education

In response to a writ petition addressing water scarcity filed in 2005, the High Court issued directives to the State government emphasizing the importance of water preservation and regulation. The court instructed the government to identify structures lacking rainwater harvesting systems and take action accordingly, ensuring compliance in both urban and rural areas.

Furthermore, it urged the implementation of water recycling plants and examination of bore-well compliance with relevant regulations. Notably, the court advocated for integrating water conservation topics into school curricula, underscoring the need to educate students from primary to higher levels. Additionally, it called for the establishment of a watchdog committee to oversee water usage and impose necessary restrictions, reflecting a proactive approach towards sustainable water management.
