Hemant Soren Moves SC Over Delayed Verdict on His Arrest Plea
Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren approached the Supreme Court, expressing frustration over the delay in the High Court’s verdict on his plea challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Mr. Soren, urgently mentioned the matter, seeking a hearing on Friday.
He informed the bench that despite the High Court reserving its verdict on February 28, no decision has been delivered yet. Soren was arrested on January 31 after resigning as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating allegations of significant proceeds of crime generated through the manipulation of official records.
