Heavy rain in Myanmar triggers landslide and flood

Severe weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and flooding, have triggered landslides and havoc in southern Myanmar. The town of Kawthaung, situated in the Tanintharyi region, experienced its heaviest single-day rainfall in 76 years, recording 253 mm of rainfall on Tuesday.

This surpassed the previous record of 232 mm set in July 2021. The impact of heavy rains and strong winds led to landslides and falling trees in Kawthaung, Dawei, and Myeik towns in the Tanintharyi region on the same day. The Fire Services Department is responding to the situation and dealing with the aftermath of the severe weather.
